Saturday’s trip to Craven Cottage to face Fulham did see West Bromwich Albion return with a point for our efforts, but with a slower start but a stronger end, fans will be mixed in how they viewed the overall performance.
Summer signing Semi Ajayi got off the mark following his arrival at the club to score the all important equaliser, but there were certainly some poor performances given how statistics website Whoscored tally a players impact on the game. Despite there being some big names who didn’t receive seven plus scores from the 90 minutes, former England midfielder Jake Livermore seemed to take the flack more than most when it came to fans on social media.
The 29-year-old is one of those players who splits the fanbase and he largely either seems to ‘wow’ in a performance, or absolutely bomb in the eyes of many fans, and given his error for their goal and the fact he only managed 18 touches in 58 minutes, his substitution wasn’t a great surprise as we looked to get back into the tie.
Anyone noticed we playing so much better since Livermore went off?? #WBA

If I had a quid for every time I've seen Livermore get robbed in the middle of the park and us concede 10 seconds later…

Utter garbage from Livermore.

Watching Livermore in this game is painful, better playing with 10 men. So poor.

What the hell was livermore doing for that goal. This happens way too often in the centre of the field. Not enough conviction and strength

His involvement in the goal certainly swayed opinions here, but we know he’s capable of far better on the pitch, so let’s hope it’s one of his better showings at the next time of asking. It’s been a steady start to the year with the unbeaten run, but with Play-Off heartbreak last season, we need our key and experienced players to really find their form.
